Pachmarhi, is Madhya Pradesh's only hill station. A beautiful hill resort surrounded by the Satpura ranges, is one of the most important places of tourist attraction. Abounding in rivers, valleys, waterfalls and dense forests, it is a resort for all seasons. Leopards, Indian Bisons, Langurs and Sambars can be found in the forests of Pachmarhi. The cave shelters in Mahadeo hills contain an exquisite collection of rock paintings. Most of them have been places in the period 500-800 A.D but the earliest paintings are an estimated 10,000 years old. The highest point in the Central India region and the Vindhya and Satpura range; Dhupgarh at 1,350 m is located here.

Satpura National Park







 
The park has bisons, deers, blue bull and a wide variety of birds. You have to hire a jeep for a safari, tickets can be taken for other sight seeings alltogether, enquire at the ticket office. The Bison lodge is a quaint old museum of the flora and fauna here.  Although there are tigers and leopards but spotting one is difficult. It could cost you around Rs 2000/- with jeep. You can spend the whole day at the reserve, no time limit applied and there is a forest rest house inside. Rooms are available.

Jata Shankar is a holy place, and the site of legends and shrine. A cave is located in deep ravine, with enormous boulders perched above. It is one of main attraction points of the beautiful surroundings of town.

Handi Khoh, an imposing canyon with 300 feet high crag amidst a dense forest, is endowed with scenic beauty. It is a deep ravine in V-shape created by two gigantic hills. The clinging rock face of this gulch is a haven of large beehives. Bounded by a deep woody forest, this place is closely associated with Lord Shiva

Dhoopgarh is the highest point in the Satpura range, which commands the beautiful view of the surrounding range. It is a very popular spot for viewing the sunset.

Tawa is a large reservoir on Tawa River, provides for irrigation to several thousand hectares land.

Take up a cycle on rent and pedal around. Parasailing can be done in the afternoon near Reechgarh. Trekking lovers can get a lots of options with guides, enquire at the Bison lodge, swimming in bee falls, duchess falls can be enjoyed.

 
Temple trek




Chauragh is Madhya Pradesh's third highest peak and on top is the temple of Lord Shiva, thousands of devotees cimb the hill during Shivratri. Entoute the climb we see the Handi khob or the suicide point as the name suggests overlooks a deep crevice. The Mahadeo cave is the next a little in we see a Shiva lingam. From here starts the climb of 1300 steps atop.
